Happy Easter everyone. I hope you've all had your fill of chocolate bunnies. For my part, I am currently running on a Peep/jelly bean sugar high. Not that the sugar induced insomnia is going to translate to accomplishing anything for school. We've been on break this week and I really planned on getting a lot done. And if "a lot" means surfing the net and reading up on the new Reese Witherspoon/Jake Gyllenhaal romance, then I suppose you could say I've accomplished quite a bit.
I did stumble across an interesting blog today which is completely unrelated to anything school and/or health policy related. A fellow Midwesterner is chronicling his life in Manhattan. He is a fan of Star Wars and the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals (hey, I live in Boston around a bunch of Red Sox fans...I have a feeling I will be saying "World Champion" a lot when referring to my team). What more could you need to know about a guy?

march madness
And this is the point in the year where everything else (including dissertation and course work) take a back seat to the the tourney. The adrenaline starts picking up at the end of February and then goes off the radar from the time until the bracket is announced on Sunday until the championship game is played. I seriously wonder what happens to tourney fans' brains when they see a bracket. I'm sure someone had done a few MRIs to test this out.
I think I might pick the Tar Heels to win the whole thing. They have crazy depth, but haven't been as dominant as I would expect. Maybe the heat of the tourney is what they need to pull it all together.

health care for all?
Well, this is interesting. Seems like Americans have finally reached the point where concerns over health care have overtaken interest in lowering taxes. I wonder if this will translate into mobilization behind legislation. What will this mean for the upcoming Presidential election? I have a feeling that this is going to be the big issue of the next election...
Meanwhile, still researching for dissertation related materials. Trying to develop a conceptual framework looking at nursing and health information technology. Anyone out there have any thoughts on the matter?

dissertation rant
So I'm shopping for a dissertation topic and have become amused by the differing opinions. Some people have said that the topic isn't that important; just pick one and get it over with. Others say that the topic is incredibly important; blah blah blah. At this point, I think if someone handed me a data set and said "here, study this," I think I would do it.
And don't even get me started on forming a dissertation committee...
