So I'm shopping for a dissertation topic and have become amused by the differing opinions. Some people have said that the topic isn't that important; just pick one and get it over with. Others say that the topic is incredibly important; blah blah blah. At this point, I think if someone handed me a data set and said "here, study this," I think I would do it.
And don't even get me started on forming a dissertation committee...
